The Hardshell Squall is a technical outer layer for extreme weather.
The TorrentStretch membrane effectively protects from rain and wind
It is Helikon-Tex's own three-layer 3L laminate, developed with intensive activity in hard weather in mind.
Waterproofness at the level of 30 000 mm of water column protects effectively during downpours and strong wind. The integrated microporous membrane blocks water from the outside and reliably moves the moisture produced by the body outwards.
Active ventilation removes excess heat and moisture
Water vapour permeability at the level of 30 000 g/m²/24 h and a low RET 7 coefficient mean very low evaporation resistance, which matters greatly during activity.
The TorrentStretch® membrane reliably removes excess heat and moisture and does not let the body overheat. Thanks to this the jacket keeps a high level of comfort during long ascents or a march when you are exposed to adverse weather in mountain terrain.
Waterproof YKK® AquaGuard® zippers are extra protection from rain
They block water effectively without affecting the smooth running of the sliders. The convenient two-way main zipper, finished with a Prym snap, lets you keep the jacket sealed and at the same time makes adjustment easier while moving in the field.
The outer layer is protected by a DWR water-repellent finish
Durable Water Repellency increases resistance to dirt, limits soaking of the material and slows the penetration of moisture. Thanks to this the product is simpler to care for and keeps its properties longer.

An adjustable hood
Two-point adjustment lets you fit the hood to your head precisely, and the high collar additionally shields the face from wind.
Underarm vents
They increase airflow precisely and stabilize the material.
Cuff and hem adjustment
Hook-and-loop adjustable cuffs and the drawcord at the bottom let you fit the jacket to conditions.
Helikon-Tex designed the Hardshell Squall jacket as an all-year outer layer for work in changing conditions.
In summer it protects from wind and precipitation, and in winter it forms the base of a layering system. To use the potential of the Squall hardshell jacket fully, wear technical clothing layers underneath that warm and wick moisture. In winter thermal underwear (US LVL 1 for example) combined with a light insulating layer such as the Wolfhound Hoodie works best.
Front pockets
The two chest ones are placed higher, so they stay accessible even with the hip belt of a backpack fastened.
Internal pocket
It additionally protects documents or a phone from adverse weather.
Compact packing
Packed into its hood, the jacket fits into a trekking or EDC backpack without trouble. The 3L laminate does not crease excessively and the low weight makes transport easier.
On the arms you will find hook-and-loop panels for personalizing the jacket.
