Using the Fenix LD36R torch

From the factory, there may be an insulating cover inside the torch on the battery. Remove it from the battery before first use.

Switching on/off and switching between power and colour modes - To switch the light on or off, hold the side button for approximately 0.5 seconds while a lighting mode is selected (W for white light or C for colour). If the rotary selector is in the centre locked position, you switch the torch on by rotating it to the symbol of the desired lighting mode (W or C). You can switch between white light power modes (W) at any time during operation by pressing the button briefly. Holding the button for 1.2 seconds activates strobe, which you switch off by pressing the button again and return to the previous white light mode. In colour lighting mode (C), you can cycle through colours by pressing the button briefly: red - orange - pink - blue - purple - green. Holding the button for a long time activates smooth colour change - release the button when you reach the desired shade. The next brief press will switch you back to the originally selected colour from the 6 pre-defined options.

Memory for the last set mode - The torch will always switch on to the last selected mode, with the exception of strobe and smooth colour change.

Lock/unlock - To prevent accidental switching on of the torch, for example in luggage, press the button twice quickly (the torch must be off), the torch will then flash and is locked. Unlock by pressing the button twice quickly again. You can also lock the torch with the rotary selector by moving it to the centre position. Both locks can be combined and the torch locked first with the button and then with the rotary selector. Accidental switching on can also be prevented by loosening the torch head.

Battery replacement - Unscrew the torch head and insert the battery with the positive pole facing the head. Then tighten the torch head fully again.

Charging - Flip open the dust cover and plug the USB-C charging cable into the torch's charging port. Once charging is complete, seal the dust cover again. The typical charging time for the included ARB-L21-6000 battery is 3.5 hours with a 5 V/2.5 A USB source. During charging, the indicator lights red. As soon as the battery is fully charged, the indicator lights green. During charging, the torch can be used in any mode except strobe and smooth colour change; depending on the battery charge level, not all modes may be available and the total charging time may be extended.

Battery charge status indicator - When the torch is off, activate the battery charge level indicator by pressing the button briefly for three seconds. Green indicates sufficient charge (100% - 85%), green flashing (85% - 50%), steady red (50% - 25%) and flashing red critically low battery (25% - 1%). If the battery is discharged, the torch will gradually automatically switch to lower power modes; in the lowest mode, the battery charge indicator then flashes red to alert you that the battery needs to be recharged or replaced. Only works with original batteries.

Intelligent overheat protection - When the torch is used for extended periods at high power modes, a large amount of heat accumulates. When the torch reaches a temperature of 60 °C or higher, it automatically reduces power by a few lumens to lower the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60 °C, the power gradually increases again.

Low battery warning - If the battery voltage drops below 3.0 V, the torch automatically switches to a lower mode until it reaches the lowest power mode. Once the lowest power is reached, the battery charge status icon begins to flash on the OLED display. In this case, charge the torch as soon as possible or replace the battery with a charged one.

Warning

• Do not disassemble sealed parts in the torch head yourself, as this will void the warranty.
• Use only the high-current rechargeable Li-ion batteries of type 21700 listed above.
• If the protective rubber O-rings appear to be damaged after prolonged use, replace them. The O-rings should also be lubricated to prevent rubber erosion. By following these guidelines, the torch will be properly protected against water.
• If the torch does not switch to higher power modes, flashes or does not light up, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
  • The battery is almost discharged - charge it.
  • The contacts inside the torch are dirty – clean them with a cotton bud soaked in alcohol.
  • The rear of the torch is loose – tighten it.
