Talwar has been manufacturing COLD STEEL products for several generations. They differ in size or materials used. The founder of COLD STEEL, Mr Lynn C. Thompson, makes no secret of the fact that he used a typical Indian curved sword as the template for this unique knife. The shape and size of the blade make the knife a unique cutting weapon. It has a characteristic curve to the blade running upwards to the back of the blade. Its shape in no way denies its ancestor, the Indian sword of the same name. Its origin is a type of curved sword or sabre from the Indian subcontinent. The word "talwar" in Hindi means "single-edged sword". The blade of the new Talwar knife is made from stainless steel S35VN. This exceptional American steel is not only very strong and durable, but can achieve excellent sharpness of the knife and the blade has a long service life. A very fine-grained powder steel with uniform microstructure offers very stable properties. It is resistant even with a very fine blade edge, reliable, highly resistant to corrosion. It is a good choice for high-quality custom knives and tools. The CPM (pseudo-powder metallurgy) process guarantees a very homogeneous, high-quality steel structure, dimensional stability, good sharpening and strength compared to steels manufactured by conventional methods. Despite lower chromium content, this steel exhibits very good results in terms of corrosion resistance. The handle of Talwar knives is made from G-10 material – glass fibre. The surface of the handle has a rough texture and does not slip even in sweaty or wet hands. This range of knives is also equipped with the unique Cold Steel® Tri-Ad Lock™ patent. The lock prevents accidental or unintentional closure of the knife even after natural wear over time.
