The Cold Steel Special Forces Field Shovel is very popular in the Cold Steel community. The field shovel proved itself in hand-to-hand combat in the trenches during both world wars. It is well balanced, with sharpened edges, which makes it an excellent alternative to an axe or tomahawk. The blade is not suitable for throwing. It is made from medium carbon steel. Because of this, the blade sharpens easily. The handle is made from hardwood.
