Luke LaFontaine is a long-standing member of the Cold Steel group. He is known primarily in the field of Japanese swordsmanship. Luke is also an expert in classical and historical swordsmanship and weapons, as well as an amateur historian. As he is primarily an actor, stunt performer and weapons expert in historical films. We are proud that we have named one of our knives after Luke. The blade is made from 1055 steel. This is a carbon tool steel with 0.55% carbon, 0.6 to 0.9% manganese and other alloys. The hardness of the steel is 60 to 64 HRC. Thanks to the carbon content and low alloy content, this shallow-hardened steel is a very strong material that is not prone to brittleness, which is otherwise typical of steels with higher carbon content. It is suitable for the manufacture of blades subjected to stress and impact, such as large solid knives and swords.
