This small folding knife is inspired by the traditional Japanese working knife Kiridashi. Kiridashi knives are still used in Japan today and are very popular, just like the Japanese kitchen knife Hōho. The word "Kiridashi" means "to carve" in Japanese. The overall length of the Kiridashi knife is 165 mm and its weight is only 68 g. The blade is made from Japanese stainless steel 4034 and its thickness is 3 mm. The handle is made from Griv Ex and the clip is made from the same material. The blade opens with a two-sided pin that is 3 mm long, textured and has a conical shape. The Kiridashi model is light, thin and very practical, so it will not bother you at all during everyday carry. In one of the attached photographs you can see an authentic Japanese Kiridashi knife and the new model from Cold Steel. Our Kiridashi model has a very sharp, classically shaped blade made from Japanese stainless steel 4034. This stainless steel is comparable in its properties to steel AUS8A or 440C. The very comfortable Griv Ex™ matrix handle does not suffer from matrix fatigue, as wood does for example, and does not crack, deform or absorb moisture or odours from the processed matrices. Kiridashi is of course equipped with the Tri-Ad Lock locking system. The lock prevents accidental or unintentional closure of the knife, even after natural wear over time.
