Gurkha Kukri knife with fixed blade, featuring a CPM 3V steel blade. Kukri knives are the weapons of Nepalese Gurkha soldiers. They are modified original agricultural tools that have become effective cutting weapons throughout history. Kukris are easily recognised by their distinctive blade shape, where the weight is concentrated mainly in the front part of the blade. The shape and construction of the weapon with its curved blade make it not only a cutting weapon, but thanks to its brilliantly sharpened blade, it can also perform slicing or thrusting techniques. The overall weight of the knife when striking with the rear part of the blade allows the Kukri knife to serve as an offensive hammer or baton, simply for delivering blunt blows in self-defence. It is clear that a sufficiently strong blunt blow from this knife can break bones or even kill if it strikes the head. The blades of Gurkha Kukri 3V knives, made from American CPM 3-V steel, are extremely hard. CPM 3-V is a tool steel, resistant to fracture and general wear. CPM 3V is a tool steel manufactured by powder metallurgy process with uniform microstructure. Its chemical composition gives it particularly extreme toughness, resistance to breakage and very good wear resistance. CPM 3V offers greater toughness than, for example, D2. Standard hardness of CPM 3V ranges from 58 to 60 HRC. CPM 3V often replaces highly alloyed tool steels in operations where chronic problems with tool cracking or breaking occur. Its chemical composition reduces corrosion resistance, so knives made from this steel should be additionally treated or the owner must pay increased attention to regular knife maintenance. The Kraton (Long Kray-Ex™) handle of the Kukri knife maximises its potential. The handle is perfectly shaped and offers a non-slip surface. It fits perfectly in the hand and dampens impacts during strong blows. A Secure-Ex sheath, which protects both you and the knife, is of course included. The importer provides a 5-year extended warranty on this knife.
