The Crawford 1 model was named after its creator, American knife maker Wes Crawford. Wes Crawford agreed and designed a new "Flipper" for Cold Steel. The knife design bears Crawford's hallmark and the shape derives directly from his successful custom knife models. A broad blade with pronounced belly for comfortable cutting and hollow grinding is made from Japanese stainless steel 4034. This stainless steel is comparable in its properties to AUS 8A or 440C steel. The knife handle is made from Zy-Ex material. It is equipped with a dual locking system. The primary lock is a linerlock and a secondary sliding lock secures the knife in the open position, so the linerlock cannot be broken.
